A series of excellent toasts was raised here at the house yesterday. We had our official beginning of the year liturgy and dinner, which concluded with toasts to the Pope, our homeland, and to the new year: a great and, as commented afterwards, all too often neglected practice.
In the midmorning (after my jaunt to Saint Peter's) we had a morning conference welcoming everybody back, which concluded with our group picture:
Back in Black
Bishop Schnurr from Duluth presided at Mass, preaching on that excellent verse from the first reading from Habakkuk: "For still the vision awaits its time; it hastens to the end -- it will not lie. If it seem slow, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay."
Dinner afterwards was outstanding, candlelit, many courses, white wine, red wine, wrapped up with the best apple pie and homemade vanilla ice cream. With the requisite champagne for the toasts.

Mother says you are the handsomest in the group. She also says the woman at the back of the group is Saint Terese. Is she also taking classes?
Yeah, Therese decided to get in on the photo-op. She does spend quite a bit of time in that garden. I think she's offering a course on flowers that are small.
She seems pretty stoic about the whole thing if you ask me.
Again, Padre, I do agree with Mother, but then, I believe those "self-appointed mothers" of yours, are slightly biased! {smile}
However, I do agree with Erin's post elsewhere that questions your WEIGHT - seems that you could use EVEN MORE GELATOS than you are ALREADY eating?
I KNOW THIS WILL BE SHOCKING TO ZOE!! {BIG GRIN}
-Or am I just used to seeing you buffed from weight-lifting?
In case you're missing my point (as I ramble in circles), Erin & I are wondering if you're getting too thin???? =) Good call Erin!
I had my Gallbladder out last week and the night before I remember, oh man, I forgot to goto confession last week and then see Father Michael or Father Ed about a blessing before I went under the knife. Of course I could not get in touch with either of them...I know it was a bit way last minute!!
I guess I need to move to Italy...you cant swing a cat by the tail without hittin Priest!!
Oh..gallbladder thing went well...felt like I did 1000 sit ups Rocky syle. Doing great now.
