Capital View

So yesterday we began our day by heading to Ankara's Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, which is well located, since it's right in the middle of Anatolia.

The Amazing Two-Headed Winged Thingummy

When dealing with very ancient things, you find a lot of rock things, since rocks last a long time--

This statue is actually quite tall.

These are quite small.

This one is part of a wall.

This one could be wearing a shawl.

A lot of the material was 'neo-Hittite', which may refer to Hittites who really enjoyed the first Matrix . . .

One thing you find is that in addition to the Mother Goddess, the ever-replicated deity was the bull.

A bunch of bulls.

Lion? Cougar? Saber-toothed Tabby Cat?

The other thing Hittites were good at, after carving things out of stone, was warfare.

Soldiers, who are good at war.

Relief depicting the famous 'Run Over the Enemy While Shooting Arrows Between Our Horses' Ears' routine.
