You gotta hit the big stuff, so we hit the Hittite Capital--Hattusa--on our first full day in Turkey.
The King's Gate: King Not Currently Present
With ruins dating from 3300 years ago, we definitely were going old school . . .
The Lions' Gate. Not sure why that name . . .
The massive walls still included an ancient (well, everything there is) tunnel used in religious processions and surprise attacks on enemies--or both at once?
Ancient Tunnel. Brave Explorers.
Traveling on from Hattusa, where we had examined foundations, wall reliefs, rocks, altars, temples, more rocks and such, we continued on to a massive stone temple carved from stone, which was a relief. Or full of reliefs, I should say.
Big Person Standing with Smaller Person.
Holding Even Smaller Thing.
