Three (!) cities compressed into our day today: Priene, Miletus, and Chicago. Wait: Priene, Miletus, and Didyma. Yeah, that's what they were. Since we've been staying in Ephesus, we're in striking distance of several of the classic Greek cities along the coast.
One of the best examples of a classical Greek city is Priene. Built on a mountaintop, it follows and in many ways defines the model of a standard city plan.
The theater had four seats of honor.
Two of which were seen above.
Very honorable.
The temple of Athena was famed as being the model for the Ionic style--it was imitated throughout the Greek world.
Column like you see 'em.

Ancient history would have been different, had you sat in the seat of honor at the theater in Priene.
"The Lictor Avramus Augustus freed all the slaves, and ordered a week-long festivity in celebration of the local cuisine."
